Week 10 College Football Playoff Predictions
The college football season is winding down and the playoff committee will now start their rankings this week. These are the only rankings that matter as the committee of the playoff will ultimately decide the final rankings. Most people say that these rankings won’t matter because there is lots of football still to be played but, they are wrong. These rankings will give us an idea of which teams and conferences are valued more in the committee's eyes. Teams that will be left out of the first week's top twenty will have a very slim chance of being in the playoffs.
Here are my end of the season playoff predictions:
Week 10 Playoff Predictions
Ohio State Buckeyes (13-0)
Alabama Crimson Tide (12-1)
Indiana Hoosiers (12-1)
Texas A&M Aggies (12-1)
Georgia Bulldogs (11-1)
BYU Cougars (12-1)
Ole Miss Rebels (11-1)
Oregon Ducks (11-1)
Notre Dame Fighting Irish (10-2)
Texas Tech Red Raiders (11-2)
SMU Mustangs (10-3)
Memphis Tigers (12-1)
*teams that are bold won their respected conference championships
BYU and Texas Tech: I believe both of these teams will have a strong case to make the playoffs as they seem to be heading to a conference championship game. The ACC will most likely only be taking one team to the playoff this year (ACC Champion) this leaves more spots available for other teams.
SMU Mustangs: Currently the Mustangs have three losses but after knocking off Miami this past weekend they will have a chance to play for a conference championship. The Mustangs look to be peaking at the right time and will hope to win the ACC which would automatically put them in the playoffs.
Memphis Tigers: After Boise State won the Mountain West last year they were able to take up the final spot for the playoffs. This year looks to be heading in a different direction as the American Conference champion looks to be destined for a playoff opportunity. If the Memphis Tigers can run the table and win their conference I believe they will be in. The Tigers have been the only group of five teams to be ranked in the AP poll the last couple of weeks. We will see on Tuesday where the committee values them and their conference.
